Akon and Wale perform with Wizkid at his concert in New York

 

You have to be really special for music heavyweights to agree to perform with you on stage at your own concert. Konvict Music boss/singer Akon and US-Nigerian rapper Wale showed up at Wizkid's concert on Saturday July 26th at the Irving Plaza in New York and performed with him on stage. They even performed their own songs to a stunned crowd. Reality stars Natalie Nunn and Mz Jersey also showed up to support Wizkid.

Boko Haram kidnaps wife of Cameroon's Vice Prime Minister

The wife of Cameroon's Vice Prime Minister, Amadou Ali, was kidnapped this morning July 27th after men of the Boko Haram sect stormed her home in the northern town of Kolofata, Cameroon's information minister and government spokesman revealed.
Mrs Ali was kidnapped alongside her domestic staff and one other person. The insurgents also killed 3 people in the attack on Kolofata, a town in Cameroon's Far North Region near Nigeria
Colonel Felix Nji Formekong, the second commander of Cameroon's third inter-army military region (RMIA3) based in the regional headquarters of Maroua, said the sect members are believed to still be in the town fiercely engaging military officers
The situation is very critical here now, and as I am talking to you the Boko Haram elements are still in Kolofata town in a clash with our soldiers. Some of them have already taken away the wife of Vice Prime Minister Ahmadou Ali and her house help while the bodyguards of the Vice Prime Minister have succeeded in taking him out of the town to Mora," Formekong said, adding that there could be more casualties" he said

Bomb blast in Kano Catholic church kills 5

5 people have been confirmed dead after a bomb was tossed into the premises of St. Charles Catholic Church in the Sabon Gari area of Kano City shortly after church service around 1pm today July 27th

Confirming the incident, Mr Frank Mba, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police said that five persons including two women, two men and a soldier guarding the premises of the church were killed in the attack as worshipers were leaving the church premises after service. Many others were injured

'British tourist' caught having sex in broad daylight between parked cars

The British like to have fun in weird ways! :-). Weeks after a British girl was filmed performing a sex act on 24 men in a night club in Magaluf, a major holiday resort on Majorca, Spain, another British couple have been filmed being really naughty.
A shocking new video filmed on a street in Magaluf has emerged showing 'British tourist' having sex in broad daylight between two parked cars. They were captured on film for two minutes by someone recording them through a window. (Above are screenshots from the video)
The shocking footage, which was shared on Youtube (its since been removed), shows the couple, suspected to be in their 30s, unfazed as cars passed them. And when they finished, the man kneels on the ground as the woman slowly gets to her feet and re-arranges her mini-skirt before he passes her a tissue. They couldn't get a room? Or it's something they needed to cross off on their bucket list?

FIFA lifts ban on Nigeria

FIFA has lifted the ban it placed on Nigeria on July 9th after a high court sitting in Jos sacked the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, Aminu Maigari and other board members. FIFA had frowned at the court ruling, stating that the move was a government interference in football activities which is against its policy. FIFA then directed that a new court order reinstating Maigari and other NFF executives be obtained before it can lift the ban.

The new court order reinstating the NFF President and other executives was obtained two days ago, Tuesday July 15th, hence the lifting of the ban today.

Maigari and his board will resume their duties tomorrow and stay there until next month's elections when they could be sacked through the ballot, in line with FIFA's policies.

GEJ cancels meeting with parents of missing Chibok girls, berates #bringbackourgirls group

According to a report by BBC, President Jonathan has cancelled his proposed meeting with parents of the missing chibok girls after accusing #BringBackOurGirls campaigners of playing politics
Jonathan had been due to meet with the parents of the victims today but he canceled it last minute, saying the #BringBackOurGirls group should be ashamed of manipulating "the victims of terrorism"
"Unfortunately, political forces within the Nigerian chapter of Bring Back Our Girls have decided to take this opportunity to play politics with the situation and the grief of the parents and the girls. They should be ashamed of their actions. Those who would manipulate the victims of terrorism for their own benefit are engaging in a similar kind of evil: Psychological terrorism," President Jonathan said in a statement.

The Face of Terror Suspect - Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche

Following the conclusion of tortuous legal and diplomatic processes between Nigeria and the Republic of Sudan, the co-mastermind of the Nyanya Motor Park bombing in which scores of citizens died and hundreds wounded, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche was Tuesday, 15 July, extradited to the country from Sudan where he had taken refuge. Aminu Ogwuche who was handed over to the Interpol Unit of the Nigeria Police Force by the Sudanese Authorities was flown into the country in a special flight from Khartoum which touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 3.00pm

It would be recalled that the terror fugitive who had long since been arrested in Sudan following an international red notice issued for his arrest by the Nigeria National Bureau of Interpol had not been repatriated to the country before now due to some necessary processes involved in transferring suspects from one country to another. 

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, CFR, NPM, mni, psc while commending the personnel of the Nigeria Police Interpol Unit for a job well done, noted that the successful repatriation of the terror fugitive to Nigeria shows that the global coalition against terrorism championed by Nigeria is beginning to yield the desired result.  

Giant Nigerian snails seized and destroyed at Los Angeles Airport

Officials of the Los Angeles International Airport have seized and destroyed a consignment of 67 African snails sent from Nigeria to a resident in the US, saying the snails are poisonous and highly destructive. The snail consignment arrived in the States from Nigeria on July 1st in a blue basket pictured above.
The snails according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture are prohibited because they can carry parasites that are harmful to humans, including one that can lead to meningitis. They also say it can destroy local crops. Continue...

ASUP suspends 10-month old strike, Polytechnics to resume Tuesday

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has suspended its 10-month old strike. The strike which started in October 2013 was suspended today Saturday July 12th the National Executive Council of the association.
Rising from a meeting this morning in Abuja, the ASUP NEC decided to suspend the strike which has seen polytechnic students stay at home in the last ten months.
The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement Chirman announced the suspension and also stated that academic activities would resume in all polytechnics nationwide from Tuesday July 15th. The ASUP leadership held what it termed a fruitful meeting with the newly sworn in Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau on Thursday July 10th.
